About road construction projects
Summary
Wondering why that jackhammer has been waking you up the past few mornings? Maybe you just hate unexpected construction detours on your way home from work? In this section of EveryBlock, you can find out about recent work on streets, alleys, sidewalks, bridges, traffic signals and street lights near you.
The District Department of Transportation provides information about current and completed construction projects. Each report provides the location of the work, a project name (if it has one), a description (sidewalk construction, pavement/surface restoration, traffic signal work, etc.), and its status (completed, under construction or active design). The last status category occurs before work begins.
The department also includes information on the type of road being worked on, such as local streets or interstates. Note that the publication date listed here is the day we at EveryBlock collected the information.
Also note that when a new road project starts near you, you'll see it on your EveryBlock block/neighborhood page — but when information about the project is updated (e.g., with a new estimated completion date), the project won't show up on your block/neighborhood page again. However, we do continually update construction project data, on the individual project pages.

The data comes from the DC Data Catalog and Data Feeds page, from the Citywide Data Warehouse under the Office of the Chief Technology Officer. The city updates the database daily, although several days can go by without new projects. We at EveryBlock look for new data each day.
